ACADEMIC Linguistic communication, LITERACY AND CONTENT FOR AN EDUCATION IN English language.
Reach Higher guides students to larn English, acquire about the world, and acquire about themselves through authentic content with a global perspective. Primary students develop the academic language skills and content knowledge they need to get an education in English.
The program uses National Geographic science and social studies content and authentic literature to build content noesis and develop English literacy through enquiry-based learning. Students piece of work with the content to develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and belittling skills needed to succeed in their academic studies.
Reach Higher provides students with the skills and strategies to sympathize stories and literature, and to work with more complex texts that include facts and background knowledge in the subject areas of science and social studies.
Reach Higher teaches the language students need – vocabulary, phonics, reading, writing, and conversations – to piece of work with authentic bookish content in English.

Nancy Frey, Ph.D., a Professor at San Diego State University received the 2008 Early Career Achievement Award from the National Reading Briefing. Dr. Frey has published in The Reading Teacher, English Journal, Remedial and Special Education, and Educational Leadership. She has co-authored more than than l books on English language Learners (Linguistic communication Learners in the English language Classroom), cess (Checking for Understanding), writing (Scaffolded Writing Instruction), literacy (Reading for Data in Elementary Schoolhouse) and vocabulary (Learning Words Inside and Out). Dr. Frey teaches a variety of courses on reading teaching and literacy in content areas, classroom direction, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. She also was a third class classroom teacher.

Associate Professor, Harvard Graduate School of Education Her research and education focuses on reading development and preventing reading difficulties of children from linguistically diverse backgrounds. From 2002-2006, Dr. Lesaux was Senior Inquiry Associate of the National Literacy Panel on Language Minority Youth and in 2007 was named one of five WT Grant scholars in support of her research on English-language learners in urban public schools. In 2009, Dr. Lesaux received a Presidential Early Career Honour for Scientists and Engineers, the highest laurels given by the United States government to young professionals showtime their contained research careers.

Dr. Short directs Academic Language Inquiry & Training and provides professional evolution on academic literacy, content-based ESL, and sheltered instruction worldwide. At the Center for Applied Linguistics, she co-developed the research-validated SIOP Model. She has directed research and program evaluations on English learners for the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Rockefeller Foundation, U.S. Department of Educational activity, and U.Due south. Department of Justice, among others. Publications include ESL textbooks for National Geographic Learning/Cengage, professional journal manufactures, and SIOP Model books. She taught English as a new linguistic communication in New York, California, Virginia, and the DR Congo. She recently served on TESOL's Board of Directors.

Recently, Dr. Turner received the Elva Knight Enquiry Grant from the International Reading Association for her work with new reading teachers in urban elementary schools. Turner has been elected to the Board of Directors for the National Reading Conference and serves as a co-editor of the literacy leaders section.
